Residents of Ahenboboano, a suburb of Berekum in the Bono Region, have been left in shock following the discovery of a 33-year-old man, identified only as Kwasi, who was found hanging in an apparent suicide.
The tragic incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, January 14, 2024. The deceased’s body was discovered hanging from the ceiling, tied with an electric iron wire. Police have since retrieved the body and deposited it at the mortuary for preservation.
Mr. Augustine Oppong, a close friend of the deceased, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Kwasi had been living with him temporarily while searching for an apartment in the area. Oppong stated that he left for work earlier that day and returned to the devastating sight.
Kwasi, originally from Adabokrom in the Bia East District of the Western Region, is survived by his wife and two children.
The community remains stunned by the incident, as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
