The association donated a variety of essential items and announced a scholarship scheme for brilliant students.
The donation, which included educational materials, rice, drinking water, assorted drinks, sanitary pads, student bunk beds, and mattresses, is part of the association’s broader initiative to give back to communities both in the United States and Ghana.
The items were presented by Mr. Gilbert Quarshie, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Davies, Mr. Samuel Nii Amartey, Mrs. Grace Ankrah, Mr. Samuel Sir Dondee Lamptey, Minister Edmund Lamptey, Ms. Jessica Mills-Odai, Ms. Pascaline Lamptey, and Ms. Irene Lamptey.
Ms. Rose Darling Sowah, the Founder and Executive Director of the D-Rose Foundation, received the items during a short ceremony at the foundation’s premises in Accra. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the GaDangme Association of Washington DC Metropolitan Area for their kind gesture and prayed for blessings upon the association’s work.
The contributions by the GaDangme Association aim to improve the quality of life for children at the orphanage, providing them with the resources they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
D-Rose Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded in 2018, has been dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and improving the quality of life for people in both rural and urban communities of Ghana, especially in James Town and Chorkor within the Accra Metropolis. The foundation gives hope to vibrant youth for their future security.
These milestones have been achieved through innovative solutions in various areas, including foster home management, counseling, youth education, vocational and skills training, youth entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment programs, enterprise development, agricultural development, climate change, gender equality, peacebuilding, and conflict mitigation.
The vision of the Foundation is to have articulate, vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable rural communities in Ghana that are capable of contributing to a clean, peaceful, equitable, and stable country.
The mission of D-Rose Foundation is to provide services that meet the critical needs of people living in the rural communities of Ghana, particularly children in the James Town and Chorkor areas within the Accra Metropolis.
D-Rose Foundation has strategically positioned itself to come to the aid of vulnerable children by bringing them into the foster home and providing them with food, shelter, and education.
Addressing the needs of youth and women is crucial to ending poverty and hunger, as well as promoting equality. D-Rose Foundation’s Gender program approach focuses on the socially constructed differences between men and women, highlighting the need to challenge existing gender roles and relations. The Foundation holds a strong view that people cannot be gender-blind in a gender-sensitive society. It works with all community stakeholders (men, women, and youth) to promote peaceful coexistence and dialogue.
According to the Chairwoman of the GaDangme Association of Washington DC Metropolitan Area, Rowina Naa Odarkai Lamptey Moses, the donation underscores the association’s unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and fostering a sense of unity as part of the 40th Anniversary celebration.
