Drama unfolded outside the courtroom today Wednesday, October 11, 2023, as former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah confronted lawyer Martin Kpebu over what she considered an unfair media commentary directed at her.
The incident occurred following Justice Edward Twum’s decision to adjourn the proceedings until 3 p.m. to rule on an injunction application filed by Madam Cecilia Dapaah against the Special Prosecutor, who had requested an early hearing for the confirmation application.
According to reports from The Law Platform, the legal proceedings within the courtroom were not the sole source of commotion. A subsequent confrontation outside the courtroom drew the attention of onlookers and legal enthusiasts.
Martin Kpebu, a well-known lawyer frequently featured on the weekend political affairs show on TV3, found himself at the center of this confrontation. He was met by Cecilia Dapaah’s legal team, led by Mrs Victoria Barth, as they exited the courtroom.
The atmosphere quickly became tense as Mrs Barth expressed her dissatisfaction with Mr Kpebu’s comments in the media, particularly given his status as a fellow lawyer bound by legal ethics.
However, Mr Kpebu stood his ground and staunchly defended his commentary, asserting that he was merely providing a factual analysis of the matter based on the available information. His response indicated his determination to stand by his commentary.
