Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has indicated he is quite pleased with the dissolution of his marriage to Gifty Sandra Dzamesi, the mother of his three children.
The divorce, sanctioned by a law court in Ghana, he noted, was his “wish,” after learning of some unsettling truths and enduring unpleasant things in his union with Ms Dzamesi.
He said, in court, he presented his evidence to bolster his argument for the divorce. Gyan was represented by Edwin Kusi-Appiah ESQ.
“During the marriage, a lot of things came up, which I didn’t even want to talk about, for so many years, but I decided to do the needful because of how things unravelled, I did my investigations and saw the truth and I took it to court,” the former Sunderland forward said.
He explained: “The reason why we went to the court was that I annulled the marriage and my wish has been granted because the things I unravelled were the truth.”
Regarding what happens next, especially concerning remarriage, the footballer and entreprenuer said taking good care of his children “is the most important thing”.
“I am very, very happy with my life, I am a family man, my children like and love me and I also love and like all of them and so that is where my focus is,” he added in the Graphiconline interview.
Meanwhile, Gyan’s lawyer has revealed that, contrary to public assumption, the court did not order his client to hand over two cars, two houses and a fuel station to his ex-wife. The abovementioned properties, he noted, were originally in Ms Dzamesi’s name.
He, however, did not refute the information that the court asked Gyan to pay his ex-wife GHS25,000, approximately USD2,100, every month.
