Grammys: Shatta Wale lashes out at trolls after Stonebwoy

Must Read

Shatta Wale has vehemently rebuked people on social media who have been trolling Stonebwoy since the 2024 Grammy nomination list was released, Friday, November 10, 2023.

In a TikTok Live broadcast, the Reggae/Dancehall star asked his to whom it may concern, especially his fans, Shatta Movement (SM), to focus on promoting his new hit Incoming featuring Tekno, instead of laughing at Stonebwoy, something he considers “stupid”.

“Anybody who has posted or is mocking Stonebwoy that he wasn’t nominated for Grammys should delete it as soon as possible. It is a stupid thing to do. Total nonsense! There are songs we need to promote and this is the focus. Forget everything else. Everyone should delete that nonsense bulls*** thing.

“If Stonebwoy did not secure a nomination should that be your joy? God did not create me to watch people fall. I want everyone to rise. I want everyone to be successful and make money,” he said.

On X, as shown in the screenshot below, the singer-songwriter and record producer called a troll a “big fool!!!” when the latter asserted that Shatta Wale was “actually” rejoicing over Stonebwoy’s Grammy snub.

Shatta Wale’s gesture comes as a surprise to some because he was just recently fighting Stonebwoy and his team over what he suspected to be a sabotage of his December 25 Freedom Wave concert at the Accra Sports Stadium. He had desired at least three days to prepare for the day, which was to climax a brand new festival, but was shocked to learn Stonebwoy had also been granted December 22 for his Bhim Concert by the Prof Peter Twum-led National Sports Authority (NSA), managers of the Accra (Ohene Gyan) Stadium.

If anyone was immensely hopeful for a Grammy nomination this year, it was Reggae/Afro-Dancehall star Stonebwoy who, since the release of his 5th Dimension album, has been busy touring the world.

His fifth long play (LP), Stonebwoy thrilled his Bhim Nation (fans) on Wednesday, October 11, when he announced on Facebook that the tape was being considered for Grammy nominations this year.

“The 5th Dimension is here, I have been blessed and remain thankful to be able to tell my story and that of many around me through my art & my sound – the journey continues and is being considered for this year’s @recordingacademy #GRAMMY awards! [Ghana flag emoji],” the Into the Future hitmaker wrote, evidenced below:

Notwithstanding the disappointment per the above, Stonebwoy prompted his fans via X, Sunday, November 12, that he had been acknowledged for writing and guesting on Beenie Man’s Zimm, track 6 on the Jamaican star’s Grammy-nominated Simma album (Best Reggae Album).

Also, Manodzi, the 17th and final track on 5th Dimension, featuring five-time Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo, was earlier spotlighted with a live performance on the Recording Academy’s Global Spin on Thursday, September 7, recognising the internationally acclaimed and multiple award-winning Ghanaian talent, and his influence on contemporary music.
