Gaming Commission of Ghana donates relief items to flood victims

Must Read

The Gaming Commission of Ghana has donated relief items worth GHC 40,000 to flood victims at Mepe in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.

The items were bags of rice, soft drinks, new clothes and blankets, cartons of mosquito repellents, detergents, among others.

Mrs Sena Dake, the Director in charge of Finance and Administration, who represented Mr Peter Mireku the Games Commissioner, led the delegation to donate the items.

According to her, the Commission was poised to extend their support to the people of Mepe in their challenging time.

She emphasized the challenges faced by the displaced people and indicated that though their operations cut across the area, it was not the reason they were donating the items.

“Mepe is one of our operational zones but for now, we’re not focusing on business. We want our people to be safe and healthy first in this situation, then we can continue business,” she explained.

Mrs Dake stated that the Commissioner had other plans to give support to the victims in other parts of the region with the aim of joining hands with other donors to give a comprehensive solution to the plight of the residents.

She handed the items to Mr. Osborn Fenu the District Chief Executive and charged him to ensure that all the flood victims in the district got a share.

Mr Fenu gave assurance that the items would be distributed fairly and thanked the leadership of the Commission for extending their support to the victims.

Togbe Kwasi Nego VI, Mankralo of Mepe also lauded the Commission for the kind gesture.

He urged them to offer more support to the victims, especially in the aspect of livelihood restoration as life was coming back to normalcy.
