The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has announced that under the new 2024 contract, private lotto operators will be prohibited from conducting their own lotto draws, whether on television stations or indoors.
The agreement is expected to be signed on Friday, August 30, 2024.
According to Section 7.1.13 of the new license agreement, private lotto operators (PLOs) are required to use only the numbers drawn by the NLA.
This provision effectively bans operators such as Alpha Lotto Limited, Obiri & Sons Lotto Limited, and any other PLOs currently running their own parallel 5/90 VAG lotto draws from continuing these activities.
Once the contract is signed, any private lotto draws will be considered illegal.
Sources indicate that the NLA, led by Board Chairman Gary Nimako Marfo and Director-General Sammi Awuku, plans to confiscate all draw machines belonging to private lotto operators immediately after the new contract is signed.
