High Taxes and Unmet Promises: NDC’s Enoch Amoako-Nsiah Calls for Economic Reforms…To Aid Local Businesses

Must Read

In a recent statement, former Ashanti Security Chief Enoch Amoako-Nsiah voiced his disapproval of the NPP’s economic policies, which he claims have imposed a heavy burden on businesses in the region.
Enoch Amoako-Nsiah criticized current “nuisance taxes” for stifling growth and reducing opportunities for local enterprises, calling them counterproductive to Ashanti’s prosperity.
The former security coordinator argued that instead of delivering on promises to foster a robust economic environment, the government has failed to ease tax pressures, leaving Ashanti businesses struggling to remain viable.
Speaking at a media engagement in Kumasi, he urged Ashanti residents to consider the economic impact of political promises, suggesting that an NDC administration would prioritize creating a more business-friendly environment.
“If Napo truly cared about Asanteman,” he stated, “he would champion policies that promote, rather than hinder, economic growth.”
“Every time businesses here try to expand, they’re met with overwhelming tax demands,” Enoch Amoako-Nsiah stated.
He argued that high taxes, paired with rising costs of goods, are damaging local businesses’ ability to compete, hire, and contribute to regional growth.
Many business owners in the Ashanti Region are reportedly struggling to remain profitable, with some being forced to scale back operations or close altogether.
Enoch Amoako-Nsiah compared this situation with the previous NDC administration’s approach, which he claimed fostered a more business-friendly environment with policies designed to support growth rather than hinder it.
“During the NDC’s tenure, businesses had room to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the local economy. Under the current administration, they’re barely surviving,” he stated.
To address these economic struggles, Enoch Amoako-Nsiah urged the people of Asanteman to support the NDC in the upcoming elections.
He argued that a change in leadership could bring economic reforms aimed at reducing taxes and providing incentives for local businesses, thereby fueling sustainable economic development in the region. He emphasized that while party loyalty is common in Ashanti, voters must consider which government will realistically empower the local economy.
