Madina MP Sosu Donates GHC 300,000 to Enhance Healthcare Facilities In Madina

Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina, has donated of GHC 300,000 to four health facilities within the La-Nkwantanang Madina Municipality.

The funds, earmarked for capital expenditure, aim to improve healthcare delivery and address critical infrastructure needs in the community.

Speaking during the Madina Health Sector Engagement, organized in collaboration with the Municipal Health Directorate, Hon. Sosu emphasized the importance of investing in healthcare to enhance the well-being of constituents.

“Today, as part of my parliamentary duties, I present a humble donation of GHC 150,000 for the theatre project. This forms part of the total GHC 300,000 commitment to support our local health facilities,” he stated.

Hon. Sosu was joined by partners from professional associations in the USA who are exploring opportunities to contribute to the development of healthcare facilities in Madina.

He expressed optimism about their support for future fundraising efforts, saying, “With this intervention, we aim to complete pending projects like recovery wards and operationalize newly constructed facilities like the Otinibi Health Center.”

The MP also highlighted the broader investments made in healthcare infrastructure in the municipality, citing medical equipment donations worth over $1 million in the past year.

He reaffirmed his commitment to addressing healthcare challenges and urged constituents to support his efforts and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party’s vision for better healthcare.

Mrs. Priscilla Anima, Municipal Health Director underscored the urgent need for additional resources to expand healthcare infrastructure.

She appealed to stakeholders to prioritize health investments, stating, “The wealth of every nation is its health. We need more facilities, tools, and support to serve our growing population.”

NDC’s Vision for Healthcare

The engagement also served as an opportunity to discuss the NDC’s manifesto on healthcare. Key initiatives include:

Free Primary Healthcare at CHPS compounds and polyclinics.

Establishing the Ghana Medical Care Trust Fund (MAHAMACARES) to support chronic disease management.

Expanding health infrastructure, improving worker deployment, and offering incentives like rural allowances and tax waivers for healthcare professionals.

Constructing specialist hospitals and upgrading existing facilities nationwide.

The event, attended by representatives from public and private health institutions, chiefs, market women, and other stakeholders, also saw the donation of medical consumables to selected facilities.

Hon. Sosu concluded with a call for unity and support, urging citizens to continue having faith in his leadership and the NDC’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare.

“Together, we can make Madina a model of excellence in healthcare,” he said.
