President John Dramani Mahama has commended former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for conceding early in the December 2024 election.
Delivering his inaugural address on Tuesday at the Black Star Square, Mr. Mahama said Dr. Bawumia’s actions eased tensions.
“Your[ Bawumia] early concession was not only a demonstration of your statesmanship but also an act that contributed immensely to reducing tensions across the nation,” Mahama said.
“In times of political contest, it is easy for tempers to flare, but your decision to concede swiftly helped guide us through a critical period in Ghana’s democratic journey,” he added. Mahama expressed his gratitude for Bawumia’s exemplary conduct during a time of national uncertainty,” the new President added.
