The Minority in Parliament has called on former government appointees to reject any invitations from the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee, questioning its constitutionality.
Led by Suame Member of Parliament, John Darko, the Minority claims that the establishment of ORAL is unconstitutional, as there are already existing, legally mandated bodies tasked with investigating allegations of misconduct.
“No serious country would allow such a committee to operate,” John Darko stated, urging former officials to steer clear of ORAL’s activities. “We will not participate because we trust that constitutionally established bodies are capable of handling such investigations.”
ORAL, which was created on December 18, 2024, is chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu. Its purpose is to recover state assets allegedly looted during previous administrations.
