Surge in spousal murder cases worrying – Chief laments

Must Read

Some chiefs in the Eastern Region have described as worrying the increase in spousal murder cases recorded in the country in recent times.

The chiefs stated that within a period of three months, the country has recorded many cases of such incidence, saying it was so abhorring and wondered how lovers turned to become enemies who could not settle their issues but ended up killing each other.

The Mponua-hene of Akuapem Adukrom, Nana Asare Atakorah III, together with other chiefs, queenmothers and security agencies expressed the concern when he addressed the media and women in the area to report any spousal threat to the traditional leaders and the Police for immediate intervention today.

He said couples in the olden days could stay happily in marriage for decades to take proper care of their offspring but the reverse was the case nowadays because partners even forgot that they had ever expressed love for each other, but all they could do was to destroy their lives.

Nana Asare Atakorah said the saddest aspect of the situation was where the man killing his partner and for fear of being arrested to face prosecution also commits suicide without thinking about the welfare of the children they were leaving behind.

He, therefore, appealed to residents in the regions, particularly couples to assist in complementing the efforts of the traditional leaders, the security agencies and other stakeholders to maintain the prevailing peace in the country to pave way for holistic and accelerated progress.
