Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia Saturday won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Super Delegates Conference in the Volta Region.
He polled 29 out of the total 41 votes cast, representing 70.7 per cent, to beat the nine other aspirants in a contest that would select five for a delegates conference in November.
Mr Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, and Mr Alan Kwadjo Kyeremateng, a former Trade Minister and two-time Presidential aspirant, both came second with four votes each.
Mr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, former Minister of Agriculture, came third with three votes, and Mr Francis Adai-Nimo got one vote.
The remaining five got zero and there were no spoilt or rejected ballot, Mr Eric Dzakpasu, the Volta Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, said.
The voting was conducted under heavy security, and the catholic Secretariat at Sokode Lokoe where it was held, was off limits to all except delegates, agents of the aspirants, and accredited media.
The Regional Minister commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
Among the delegates were 17 residual executives of the Party in the Region, two individuals with ministerial positions, two members of national councils, and all 18 constituency chairmen.
