Faana Incident: Commitee to complete work by Wednesday June 7.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Weija Gbawe Patrick Kumor says the commitee tasked to conduct and investigate into the Faana drowning where some school children died is expected to complete its final report this week.

The commitee was task with the mandate of establishing the suitability of the island and make recommendations for interventions that would make life comfortable on the island for inhabitants.

The commitee will present its final report to the Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey for onward action.

Speaking after Action Aid a non governmental organisation presented some life jackets to the Assembly for distribution, Municipal Chief Executive for Weija Gbawe Patrick Kumor indicated that the two week period given to the commitee to wrap up its work is due and details of the findings will be made public by Wednesday June 7, 2023.

“I don’t want to go into the details as to what the commitee has done. They were given two weeks to go into the communities to get the report out. Latest by Wednesday the findings of the commitee will be made know to the public by the Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey” Municipal Chief Executive Patrick Kumor said.

Speaking after presenting over 50 life jackets to persons living around Faana Regional Manager for Greater Accra,Oti and and Volta Region She-Vera Anzagria expressed worry a over the death of the school children and tasked the commitee to do its best in finding solution to the matter.

“The finding must seek to provide what could be done to resolve the issues but as Action Aid we care and we have decided to support them by providing them with life jackets as a form of support to the children while they cross to the other community for school. I must say that these boat accident has become one too many and it is about time we have a national dialogue about island schools and how to protect both teachers and students”She – Vera Anzagira the Regional Manager for Volta, Oti
and Greater Accra said.
