Adwoa Safo apologises to Akufo-Addo, NPP leadership

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has apologised to the leadership and members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) over her recent conduct.

The MP was absent from Parliament for a prolonged period and did not budge despite calls on her to return to the House of Legislature to help pass essential bills for the government.

A committee was eventually set up by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to probe reasons for her absence in Parliament but the Dome-Kwabenya MP refused to appear before the committee.

In a video posted on her Facebook page, today, Thursday, 14 September 2023, however, Ms Safo rendered an unqualified apology to the Presidency and the party.

“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to my party, that is the New Patriotic Party, and the leadership, firstly the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his Vice-President, our mother the Chief of Staff Honourable Frema Osei Opare, Majority Leader and the entire leadership of parliament, my colleague MPs, Majority caucus,” she said.

According to the Dome-Kwabenya MP, there was a lot happening around her at the time.

“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to you all for my conduct in the past, it was not my intention to disrespect you.

“There was a lot happening in my life,” she explained.

She pleaded: “Whatever it is, please forgive me.”

The Dome- Kwabenya MP has also declared her intention to contest her party’s primaries in the Constituency.
