Madam Faith Aku Dzakpasu has been pronounced the Best Teacher in Ghana at the 2023 Ghana Teacher Prize Awards.
Madam Faith Aku is a teacher in the Greater Accra Region, specifically at Greta “D” Shepherd Basic School. She is a Basic Two (2) teacher.
At the event, she was given a prototype of a 3-bedroom apartment which is said will be built at her selected place of choice. In addition to the prototype, she received an amount of money worth GH$ 1 million from SIC, State Insurance Company. Also, she was awarded 1,000 exercise books.
The world of Mad. Faith Aku Dzakpasu deserved the presents given to her. Motivations of this kind will push more teachers to do more for the wards and the teaching fraternity in a nutshell.
Next to Madam Faith is the 1st Runner, Mad. Isabella Wussa-Tetteh. She is a teacher at Sege D/A Primary School, Greater Accra. She was given a 4×4 Pick-Up Truck, GH¢ 1 Million covers from SIC, and 1,000 exercise books for her tremendous contribution as far as the award is concerned.
Mr. Fredous Idi-Anim returned home with 1,000 exercise books, GH¢ 1 Million, and a brand-new Saloon car. Mr. Fredous Idi-Amin is a teacher at Ogbojo Presbyterian Basic School in the Greater Accra Region.
Furthermore, awards were given to tutors from Colleges of Education (CoE) where Mr. Simon Boateng, a tutor at St. Monica’s CoE located in Asante Mampong was adjudged as the Best Tutor. His achievement was rewarded with a 4×4 Pick-Up Truck.
In attendance were the President of Ghana, the Education Minister, and the NTC Registrar.
The President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo promised once again that the TM1 laptops would be delivered to teachers in due time. Also, he urged Hon. Dr. YaW Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education to take careful note of the initiative and make the laptops are delivered to the last teacher.
Moreover, Dr. Yaw Adutwum expressed his will for transformation in the education sector. He called on all stakeholders to contribute their most in preserving and transforming Ghana into a world-class residence for citizens and other nationals.
Speaking, the NTC Registrar, Dr. Christian Addai-Poku talked about the exodus of teachers moving to the U.K. to seek greener pastures. To him, he wants citizens to return or stay home and make Ghana a better place to stay.
However, the condition of service in the Ghanaian teaching sector is not juicy enough to attract the exodus of teachers moving to the UK for a better life.
The traveling teachers will stay home, in Ghana and work to the fullest if only their salary and condition of service is much better and good to write home about.
