We’ve paid $750 to fastrack the review process – Afua Asantewaa
Afua Owusu Asantewaa Aduonum has disclosed that her team have expedited the approval process.
She said they had to pay $750 to the Guinness World Record for a priority review.
This was done to expedite the review process, she said in an interview.
According to her, the waiting period for the review is 12 weeks, however, opting for a priority review would yield results in just five business days, she told Joy News.
“Right after the attempt they requested for our files. We were putting everything together and because of the popularity of the event, they reached out that they are waiting for the videos, so we have submitted everything.”
“But if you want it quick, you pay an amount of money and they review your files within five working days. Officially it’s $650 but when you’re going to pay into the account you have to pay some transaction fees. Totally we did about $750 for the priority.”
Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum completed her Guinness World Record attempt for a singing marathon in 126 hours and 52 minutes.
The Ghanaian women’s rights advocate, journalist, and event organiser began her attempt on December 24, 2023, intending to beat an Indian record.
She was advised to quit after 126 hours and 52 minutes by her team, led by Dr. Grace Buckman, who cited exhaustion as the reason.
If validated, Asantewaa’s attempt would have broken the record for the longest sing-a-thon, which was set in 2012 by India’s Sunil Waghmare.
