Akufo-Addo ruined Bawumia’s chances – Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah blasts former President

Outspoken media personality Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has launched a scathing attack on former President Nana Akufo-Addo, blaming him for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) disastrous performance in the 2024 elections.

Speaking on the maiden edition of his show For the Records, Afrifa-Mensah dismissed the party’s decision to set up a fact-finding committee, arguing that the cause of the NPP’s defeat was already clear.

“Prof. Mike Oquaye and others know exactly why the NPP lost. The very person responsible for the party’s downfall was in the room when the committee was formed. Instead of investigating, they should have held him accountable right then,” he said.

He recalled a past interview in which he asked Akufo-Addo if he was satisfied with the state of the NPP as he was leaving office. “Now that he’s out, is he happy with how the party turned out? Under his leadership, the NPP went into the 2024 elections divided and only secured 42% of the vote. The warning signs were there, but he refused to learn from them,” Afrifa-Mensah fumed.

He further criticized the party’s failure to acknowledge its history of internal strife, warning that ignoring past mistakes would only lead to further decline.

“When the history of the NPP is told, they often skip over the events of 1979—but we won’t let them forget. If they fail to remember, the party will continue to weaken and ultimately destroy itself,” he warned
