President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has advised some 569,095 candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) to eschew examination malpractices.
The over 500,000 candidates kick start this year’s BECE today, Monday, 8 July 2024, at 2,123 designated centres across the country.
The exams will end on Monday, July 15, 2024.
Ahead of the start, President Akufo-Addo in a goodwill message to the candidates urged them to approach each paper with a clear mind, and answer the questions to the best of their abilities.
He further encouraged them to stay focus and remain calm with the assurance that with his Free Senior High School policy every candidate has the opportunity to continue their education and pursue their dreams.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has also congratulated the candidates and thanked teachers, heads of schools, directors of education, parents, and stakeholders for their support.
The GES also urged all involved to avoid examination malpractice, stating that measures are in place to ensure smooth conduct.
The Senior High School selection process will begin after the BECE, with details to be communicated later.
