As the founder of Antrak Group of Companies and a co-founder of OT Africa Line, he revolutionized maritime trade and logistics in West Africa. His companies expanded globally, creating employment for thousands of people. He was also the first Ghanaian to own an aircraft, through his establishment of Antrak Air, a pioneering airline in the country.
His influence extended beyond business, as he served on numerous boards, including the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, the Ghana Maritime Authority, and the Ghana Shippers’ Council.
Philanthropy and National Development
Beyond business, Alhaji Banda was a dedicated philanthropist who significantly contributed to Ghana’s socio-economic development. His company, Antrak Ghana, funded the refurbishment of the maternity wing of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, among other charitable efforts. He also invested in infrastructure development, including the establishment of the Tema Container Terminal, which created hundreds of jobs.
