The General overseer of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM), Rev. Steve Mensah, has named the industrial unit of the church’s biggest project to serve the vulnerable and transform lives-CEMAbility Village-after the administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund, Hon Irene Naa Torshie Addo Lartey.

The CEMAbility Village, spanning an expansive 2000 acres, when completed, would have 9,000 homes to shelter, comfort and give a sense of belonging to 69,000 poor and disabled families.

It would also have a state-of-the-art specialist hospital, boasting a capacity of 100 beds, to offer specialized services to ensure that those in need, especially the vulnerable, have access to quality healthcare.

At a mammoth groundbreaking ceremony to commence the project last Saturday, at the project site at Ningo in the Greater Accra region, Honourable Naa Torshie, who was visibly excited about the project, said that “I stand before you not only as a speaker but also as someone who shares a deep-rooted passion for serving the vulnerable.”

She said: “I would want to take this opportunity to express my sincerest appreciation to the church for naming the industrial hub of the village after my good self. I don’t take this gesture for granted! It is my fervent hope that by the grace of God, my vision to help establish a training and vocational institute at the industrial hub for the vulnerable, consistent with my aspiration to establish same across the country, within the shortest possible time will come to fruition.”

According her, the medical facility was a testament to CEM’s unwavering commitment to compassionate care and healing.

The Common Fund Administrator honoured Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, whose presence at the ceremony, she indicated, “reflects his commitment to uplifting the lives of the marginalised and most often unrecognised people.”

The Vice President’s support and endorsement of the project, Naa Torshie intimated, served as a testament to the importance of “our collective mission to build a better future for us all.”

The integrated community and empowerment center project was envisioned and championed by the visionary leaders of the church, Rev Dr Steve and Stanley Mensah.

Over the past decade, through the CEM foundation, there have been numerous initiatives aimed at uplifting those in need, particularly people living with disabilities.

The former MP for Tema West constituency, therefore, called on the CEM family forge ahead, hand-in-hand, to ensure the CEMAbility Village project becomes a reality.
