CLOGSAG suspends nationwide strike

Must Read

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has suspended its prolonged nationwide strike following a decision by its National Executive Council (NEC) at an emergency meeting on March 28, 2025.

In a statement issued by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, CLOGSAG explained that the suspension would allow for continued engagements to resolve the impasse.

In this regard, CLOGSAG entreats staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service to resume work on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025,” the statement read.

CLOGSAG began the strike on February 20, protesting the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Births and Deaths Registrar.

The group demanded that the position be filled by a civil servant, citing concerns over Botchway’s alleged political affiliation with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The association argued that appointing a politically affiliated individual compromised civil service neutrality and undermined professionalism in the public sector.
