The NDC supporters in the Effutu constituency, who went on a rampage to protest the perceived exclusion of their 2020 and 2024 Parliamentary Candidates from government appointments, have held a press conference to apologize to the President, John Mahama, the NDC party, and their parliamentary candidate, James Kofi Annan.
Last Friday, a group of young NDC supporters went on the rampage to demand government appointment for their two-term parliamentary candidate. They cited acts of victimization and intimidation the candidate had been subjected to, by some members and leaders in the NPP, when the NDC went into opposition.
According to the group’s spokesperson, Musa Moro, their action was triggered by frustration and the news of the appointment of the Gaming Commissioner, who they believe was in bed with the NPP yet had been given an appointment ahead of someone who has suffered so much for the party and had his businesses targeted because of his financial support to the NDC.
The group also apologized to the Effutu constituency executives, whose meeting they disrupted during the demonstration. They called on the executives to appeal to Dr. James Kofi Annan, as he had expressed anger at them for associating his name with their actions.
The group promised to fix all the things they destroyed during the demonstration and indicated that they were prepared to accept any disciplinary measures that the party would take against them.
