Finance Minister denies approving $1.7 Million single-source procurement contract

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has strongly denied allegations that he authorized a $1.7 million single-source procurement contract, describing the claims as entirely false and misleading.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, March 22, Dr. Forson dismissed the accusations, urging the public to disregard them. He reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and responsible economic governance, emphasizing that since assuming office, he has not approved any procurement contracts.

“My attention has been drawn to yet another baseless and misleading claim regarding an alleged $1.7 million single-source procurement contract approved by me,” he stated.

“This claim is completely false and should be ignored. Let me be clear: I have not approved any procurements since taking office as Minister. My focus remains on ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible economic management in the best interest of Ghana.”

Additionally, the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has issued a statement clarifying that it has not approved any such contract.

Dr. Forson reassured the public of his unwavering commitment to upholding ethical standards in managing Ghana’s economy. He reiterated that his top priority is fostering fiscal responsibility and ensuring due process in all financial transactions.
