Gas supply to Tema set to resume by March 2 as WAPCo nears completion of maintenance

Must Read

The West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo) has announced that 70% of its maintenance work is complete, setting the stage for gas supply to Tema to resume by March 2, 2025. The project—which includes an offshore pipeline cleaning and inspection exercise known as pigging—started on February 3, 2025, and remains on schedule.

At a press briefing in the Tema Industrial Area, Engineer Benoni Owusu Ayeh, Operations and Maintenance Superintendent for Western Operations, expressed confidence in meeting the deadline. “We are on track to complete the work before March 2,” he stated, assuring that gas supply to Tema will resume as planned.

Although additional inspections are scheduled for the Cotonou lateral, these will not affect the resumption of supply in Tema. WAPCo’s maintenance efforts are critical to ensuring the pipeline’s efficiency and safety, which are essential to Ghana’s energy infrastructure.
