Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made a passionate appeal to President John Mahama, urging him to uphold the country’s democratic principles amid what he described as “worrying developments.”
In a strongly worded statement, Dr. Bawumia expressed disappointment over recent government actions, including the dismissal of workers, rising insecurity, and attacks on journalists. He warned that these developments could threaten Ghana’s democratic progress if left unchecked.
“When Ghanaians voted for change in the 2024 general elections, it was to continue with national development, not to escalate the ills of the past,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia called on President Mahama to be a leader for all Ghanaians, stressing the need to protect state institutions, uphold the Constitution, and ensure fairness in governance.
“We must advance our democracy. We must protect our state institutions. We must uphold our Constitution. Ghana can do better. Ghana must do better!” he declared.
