I Am Not Building Globally Recognised Businesses To Be Remembered, But For The Many Lives I Touched – McDan

Must Read

Chairman of McDan Group, Dr. Daniel Mckorley said he hopes to be remembered not only for building globally recognised businesses, but for the many lives he touched.

This was an answer to a question posed to him at the last McDanYouthConnect series.

A young lady asked him why he is supporting people and what he hopes to achieve.

In response McDan averred that he found the question to be very profound and he loved that the lady asked the question at a forum like that because it was the perfect opportunity for him to share a lesson he has learnt along the way.

He said, he is doing what he is doing to be “remembered not only for building globally recognised businesses but for the many lives I touched.”

This purpose, he noted, doesn’t define him, but it is his contribution to life.

“I may refine that further in years to come, but I’m on that path right now. Every day I wake up and believe in what I am doing. I have, and I am driven by, a sense of purpose larger than myself. I have devoted my career to something I believe is fundamental, and important, and that I can make significant contributions to people and their families. It doesn’t define everything I do or who I am, but I work towards it every day,” he said.

McDan averred that, that is why he keeps telling young people that nobody is coming to save them.

He said: “I don’t mean in the sense that you’re all alone and nobody cares about you. I mean that in the sense that nobody is going to hand you a purpose. You’re going to have to discover this one for yourself. Nobody is going to do it for you. If you’re expecting your best friend, your parents, or, worst of all, your employer to define a purpose that will make you truly fulfilled and happy, you may be waiting a while. I, for one, don’t think it works that way.”

He indicated that, in life people may support you wholeheartedly while you search, but they can’t do it for you. “Only you can.”
