I’m the Most Competent Person to Lead NPP to Victory – VP Bawumia

Must Read

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says he is the most competent person amongst the ten candidates seeking to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as flag-bearer for the 2024 elections.

Addressing delegates in the Subin Constituency on Thursday, July 6, 2023, the Vice President said he has had the opportunity to learn at first hand the challenges facing Ghanaians.

Having been running mate to President Nana Akufo-Addo four times and as Vice President in two terms, Dr Bawumia said no one knows the country better than him to proffer solutions to the challenges.

“I have been groomed by both J.A Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo and I have had the opportunity to see every community in Ghana for the past 16 years and so I am experienced and competent to lead this party than any other”, the Vice President stated.

Campaign Message

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said he was carrying out a simple message of telling the party delegates that it is possible to make Ghana do well in all facets of the economy.

He noted that his message is intended to rally persons in the party together to bring up ideas that would help shape the Ghana we want to see.

The Vice President said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) possesses human resource potentials that can turn the fortunes of the country around hence his clarion call.

“My message of ‘It is Possible’ stems out of the believe that we can achieve success if we can work together and help to build the kind of Ghana we all want to see”, the Vice President posited.

The Vice President rallied the delegates to shed off tendencies that seek to divide the party’s front.

He asked them to consider him for the flagbearership race since he was a unifier and a person whose upbringing and lifestyle bring people together.

Dr Bawumia also entreated them to shun religious and ethnic issues that tend to bring strife, adding that no matter their beliefs and backgrounds they were first of all Ghanaians before anything else.

“Just look at me and be people of peace because I had 17 siblings with 9 as Christians and 8 as Muslims and up till now we live together in peace because our humanity matters than anything”, the Veep said.

Calls for Clean Campaign

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia called for a clean and decent campaign among the aspirants.

Commissioning his campaign office in Kumasi earlier, he said all the aspirants qualified to lead the party and that they were contesting for a common goal which was to secure victory for the NPP in the 2024 election.

It is for that reason that there should be no room for character assassination as they solicit the mandate of the delegates ahead of the super delegates election, Dr. Bawumia pointed out.

He said he was the best person to lead the NPP to break the eight-year cycle rule and appealed to delegates across the country to give him the nod.

The ultra-modern office complex was donated to the Vice President by Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo, the chief of Agric Nzema to be used as his campaign office in the Ashanti Region.

Located at Asokwa, the spacious office would be used by the campaign team of Dr. Bawumia to coordinate all his campaign activities in the 47 constituencies in the Region.

The commissioning attracted scores of party stalwarts in the Region including Members of Parliament, Regional and Constituency Executives, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives.

The event also marked the beginning of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Region, where he would be meeting delegates across all the 47 constituencies to sell his message.

Nana Boadu Nkansah Ayeboafo entreated delegates in the Region to endorse the Vice President to increase the chance of the NPP in the 2024 election.

He said he donated the office because he believed in Dr. Bawumia and urged the delegates to give him their mandate to ensure a landslide victory for the party in 2024.
