A group of individuals suspected to be criminals have set a carpentary shop belonging to one Stephen Obour ablaze at Akweley in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.
Some other items that were burnt by these criminals includes two motor bikes belonging to the owner of the shop.
Some residents indicated that the owner of the shop belongs to a watchdog group that have devoted their time chasing criminal who are terrorizing resident of the area and so might have been a target by these criminals.
Another resident who happens to be a member of the group had also been shot in the leg prior to this incident.
Speaking to the media in an interview Stephen Obour indicated that the criminals elements intentionally attacked him to deter him from chasing them.
“I am not sure this was electrical fault. This light here is not harmful and there is nothing combustible in my shop. I am sure some bad element in the community we often chase planned this act. I have lost all my tools to the fire including two motorbikes.Not quiet long ago I even chased another individual suspected to be criminal and he bolted “Stephen Obour noted.
Residents constantly live in fear of the unknow as they don’t know when they will be attacked.
” I went to work oneday and came home to meet the entire roof of my shop broken into. A barber, an old man and another individuals are the latest victim apart from this gentleman whose shop has been razed down. We want to beg the police to do something about the security situation in Akweley since it is getting out of hands Grace Asamoah explained.
