Kate Gyamfua Builds 60-bed ultramodern polyclinic for hometown

Must Read

The National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Kate Gyamfua, in partnership with the Village Girl Foundation, handed over an ultramodern polyclinic to the people of Akyem Takorowase in the Denkyembour District of the Eastern Region on March 13, 2025.

The facility includes a fully furnished 60-bed ward, a rehabilitated and fully equipped medical laboratory, and the provision of advanced modern medical equipment and supplies.
The new polyclinic is an upgrade of an existing health centre in the community. The Ghana Health Service’s decision to upgrade the facility from a health centre to a polyclinic follows significant improvements in infrastructure and medical equipment.

The facility was officially handed over to Dr Winfred K. Ofosu, Regional Director of Health Services for the Eastern Region, who, in turn, ceremoniously handed it over to the Denkyembour District Health Directorate and the traditional leadership of the community.
He commended the NPP Women’s Organiser for her outstanding contribution and encouraged health workers to uphold a strong culture of maintenance. He also appealed to the chiefs and residents to help secure affordable accommodation for health workers posted to the town and urged other philanthropic organisations to support the facility with further resources.

Giving Back
The NPP National Women’s Organiser expressed her appreciation to the people of the community for their continuous support. She explained that, having hailed from the community and risen in political and business leadership, she felt a deep obligation to give back, hence her decision to build the facility.
She also appealed to the chiefs and residents to maintain the facility to ensure its longevity.
On her part, Benedicta Fosu Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the Village Girl Foundation, stated that she saw the need to collaborate with the NPP Women’s Organiser on the project.
As a native of the community herself, she viewed this initiative as an opportunity to give back, which motivated her to join Ms Gyamfua in this noble gesture. She also reiterated the importance of a strong maintenance culture to preserve the facility.
Appreciation
Osabarima Owusu Nketia I, Chief of Takorowase, expressed the community’s gratitude to the NPP Women’s Organiser and the Village Girl Foundation. He further called on other individuals from the community who have succeeded in life to return and contribute to its development. He assured that the traditional leadership would play an active role in ensuring the proper maintenance of the facility.
The event was attended by Ernest Yaw Kumi, MP for Akwatia, and Seth Ofosu Birikorang, former District Chief Executive for Denkyembour.
