President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier-General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono as the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA). The announcement was made by the Presidency Communications Office on Friday.
Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono, a distinguished military officer and legal professional, currently serves as the Deputy Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) at Burma Camp in Accra. His extensive career in the Ghana Armed Forces and expertise in legal and strategic defense matters position him as a highly respected figure in both military and civilian circles.
With a strong academic background, Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from George Washington School of Law, a Master’s in Management Studies from Osmania University in India, and a Master’s in International Affairs from the University of Ghana. He was called to the Ghanaian Bar in 2015.
His professional development includes military training from prestigious institutions such as the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the United States Army Command and Staff College, and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. Over the years, he has held key leadership roles, including Chief Coordinator at NCDS, Assistant Commandant at the Training and Doctrine Command, and Deputy Director-General of Training at Ghana’s General Headquarters (GHQ).
Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono also has vast experience in peacekeeping operations, having served as Deputy Force Provost Marshal and Officer in Charge of Special Investigations at the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). His expertise in counterterrorism, strategic defense management, and operational training has significantly contributed to military leadership and security strategy in Ghana and internationally.
In his new role as Acting Director-General of GPHA, he is expected to bring his wealth of experience to enhance the operations and strategic direction of Ghana’s ports and harbors.
The appointment underscores President Mahama’s commitment to strengthening key institutions with seasoned professionals capable of driving national development.
