NADMO Provides Relief & Logistical Support To Volta Dam Disaster Victims

The Director-General of NADMO has on Thursday, 12th October, 2023 visited communities that have been affected by flooding due to a spillage of the Akosombo Dam by the Volta River Authority (VRA).
A total of 9 districts have been affected by the floods.
The D-G joined the evacuation of victims as well as the inspection of safe havens.
Government presented relief items through the VRA and NADMO to the victims in the affected Districts.
Subsequently the President has set up a high level inter-ministerial committee to look at issues related to the flood. The committee is chaired by the hardworking Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Fremah Osej Opare, with the ministers for finance, energy, interior, defense, information among others as members.
On Sunday the Director-General of NADMO, led a team from the Ghana Armed Forces headed by the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Yakubu for an aerial tour of places affected by the Volta Dam Spillage.
The team also visited some safe havens at Mepe in the North Tongu District and Akpa in the Central Tongu District where about 6,000 affected victims are being hosted by NADMO and VRA.
This newspaper is reliably informed that the President of Ghana is scheduled to visit the affected areas today, Monday 16th October, 2023 to see for himself the extent of damage as well as support provided on the ground so far.
