NPP justifies Akufo-Addo ministerial reshuffle

Must Read

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has disagreed with the opinion that President Akufo-Addo’s February 14 ministerial reshuffle is an exercise in futility because it has come too late into his tenure as president.

A section of the public, including the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), described the exercise as an “injury time remix,” which they said “is insipid and uninspiring.”

However, Kodua Frimpong disagreed with the opinion in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM with Umaru Sanda Amadu on February 14.

He argued that nine months is still enough time to make an impact.

“In a political circle, that is a long period for someone to make positive impacts in the ministry that he or she finds himself or herself. I always use Bryan Acheampong as an example. When he became the minister of agriculture, it did not take weeks for us to see his handiwork; he was doing well in the ministry.”

“For me, we are in February, and whether it will take the person one month or two months to understand, they also have ideas and will execute them, and the budget too has been passed, so it is left with making sure that the visions and policies of the government are implemented.”
