The National Investigations Bureau (NIB) has questioned Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), as part of ongoing investigations into the ghost names scandal.
Reports indicate that Mr. Assibey Antwi honored the NIB’s invitation on Thursday, March 20, appearing alongside his lawyer. He was subjected to hours of questioning regarding allegations of fraudulent enlistment of non-existent personnel on the NSA payroll.
The NIB probe follows an exposé by The Fourth Estate, which uncovered widespread financial irregularities within the National Service Scheme (NSS). Prior to questioning Osei Assibey Antwi, the investigative body had already interrogated two former Deputy Directors, Gifty Oware Mensah and Kwaku Ohene Djan, over their possible involvement in the scandal.
The revelation of ghost names on the NSA payroll has triggered national concern, with stakeholders calling for tighter financial oversight and stricter accountability. Many have urged the government to take firm action against any officials found complicit in the fraud to restore public trust in the National Service Scheme.
As investigations continue, it remains unclear whether Osei Assibey Antwi has been released following his interrogation.
