The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has unveiled plans to redevelop the historic Osu Castle into a presidential and governance museum.
The Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dr Ibrahim Awal Mohammed, disclosed this at an Editor’s forum geared towards regrouping media support for the sector held in Accra on Monday, 13 August 2023.
The museum will pay tribute to Ghana’s former presidents, commemorating their contributions to the country’s progress while offering a comprehensive insight into its political evolution.
“This endeavor forms a pivotal part of our ministry’s ongoing commitment to establish a tangible space that honors and commemorates the legacy of Ghana’s distinguished presidents,” Dr Mohammed stated.
He emphasised the ministry’s broader vision of spreading this historical appreciation across the nation.
“We have ambitious plans to construct new museums throughout the country,” he declared.
“Notably, we will soon commence the creation of a “heroes park” dedicated to the revered big six,” he announced.
“Additionally,” the Tourism Minister noted, “modernisation initiatives are on the horizon for prominent locations such as the Danquah circle, Busia circle at 37, and more across regions like Saltpond, Tamale, and Kyebi over the coming year.”
