Residents of Atafua, a community in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region would soon suffer severely for disrespecting the Owabi River gods.
The Owabi River gods who is believed to have been peeved so much, would soon descend on residents for desecrating the River (her homer).
Information is that, residents have abandoned their houses and find it more exciting making love (having sex) in and around the River hence the anger of the gods.
This development has raised serious concerns and fears within the community and its environs as Chiefs of Atafoa have warned against such acts.
According to the Chiefs, some people have been having sex in the Owabi River whilst others have also been disposing off corpse into the river which have incurred the wrath of the “river gods”.
According to the chiefs the angry River god has vowed to kill dozens of people if Ghanaians continue to pollute the river with dead bodies and other materials that threatens its life span.
According to them, the “River God” revealed this to some fetish priest in the area and vehemently warned that, any individual who will joke with the river will pay with his or her life.
Checks however revealed that, the Owabi River serves as the main source of potable water for residents in the region and have been reserved over the years as a sacred place hence, having sexual acts in the river is believed to have threatened its existence and could also affect the health of the people.
Already, some five people have drowned in the river after torrential rains in the Ashanti Region with three of the five persons confirmed dead after their bodies were retrieved.
