Right to Dream Claims 7th Gothia U-17 Trophy

Ghanaian prestigious academy, Right to Dream, triumphed against AIK to claim their 7th trophy in the U-17 division of the famous World Youth Cup popularly known as Gothia Cup in Sweden.

Going into the finals, Right to Dream Academy were the defending champions and retaining their trophy against local outfit, Swedish AIK in the finals on Saturday only proved their mettle as a top academy in African football grooming.

The Ghanaian side went into the final with the aim of clinching their seventh title, their opponents were bent on increasing their title tally to 15.

Both teams had an impressive goal-scoring record with Right to Dream scoring 17 and conceding just once en route to the final while AIK had scored 13 and conceding two.

Though AIK took the lead early on, Right To Dream swiftly recovered their footing as they raised the pressure and began attacking effortlessly.

They caused the AIK defense to absorb as much pressure as possible and eventually broke through and scored to tie the game before halftime.
They continued to attack in the second half, forcing AIK’s goalkeeper to make a number of excellent saves to preserve the score at 1-1.
However, with only a few minutes remaining, Right To Dream scored their second goal of the game, converting a fast-taken corner to crown a series of phenomenal displays with their sixth title making it back-to-back triumphs for the talent hub from Ghana.

They are the only side from Africa with the highest trophy claim in The Gothia Cup.
