Sack Kennedy Agyapong From Ghana Gas – Group Petitions Presidency

Must Read

The Nation Builders for Peace and Development (NBPD), a pressure group, has petitioned the Office of the President to sack Kennedy Agyepong from Ghana Gas for daring and disrespecting the president and the vice president of the State, Nana Akufo Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The group in a statement said it is inexplicable for Kennedy Agyapong who has been appointed by the president as Board Chairman of Ghana Gas and paid allowances by the State, to insult the president and his vice with impunity.

According to the group, Ken Agyapong’s statement sets a bad precedent especially at a time when he (Kennedy Agyepong) is contesting to become the flagbearer of the great NPP.
“We want to president to sack him from Ghana Gas to serve as a deterrent to other people who plan to thread on that path, otherwise people will learn from this act of insubordination and continue to disrespect our leader and presidents,” the group noted in the statement.
It will be recalled that, Hon Kennedy Agyapong threatened to challenge President Akufo–Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over reports that one of his agents was chased away from a polling center during the NPP extraordinary delegates congress which was held to prune the number of flagbeaership aspirants to five.

In a video that went viral, the Assin Central MP was heard saying, “I swear to God, President Akufo–Addo, I will give you a showdown, Vice President I’ll give you showdown for chasing my agent out to run into a room. You will see what will happen.”

These rantings by Kennedy Agyepong, although was hailed by his supporters, some groupings have taken exceptions to that considering the fact that the attacks were directed at the First and Second Gentlemen of the State.

The Group believes that Kennedy Agyepong should be one person who should hold himself to check rather than going about ranting and attacking people who do npot share in his vision.

Interestingly, Kennedy Agyapong is the only candidate among the five aspirants of the NPP who is still holding on to his appointment and position as the Board Chair of Ghana Gas, when all those aspirants who were holding positions resigned when they declared their intentions to contest.

The former agric Minister, Afriyie Akoto and the former Trades and Industry Minister Alan Kyerementen have all, among others, resigned their positions as they declared their intentions to contest the flagbeaership race of the party.

The Group could not understand why Kennedy Agyepong is still at post holding government position.
