Nii Addotey Otintor, Sempe Mantse has descended heavily on the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey for what he described as her “disrespect” for the Sempe Stool.
The Chief who was elaborating on major issues bothering the development of the Sempe traditional area, was vehement at pointing to the fact that the Accra Mayor since, assumption of office, has failed to build that synergy and collaboration between the Assembly and the Sempe Traditional Council for the development of the areas.
According to Nii Addotey Otintor, there are lots of happenings within his jurisdiction for which the Assembly must inform the Traditional leaders in finding solutions to, but the Assembly has kept the chiefs in the dark.
“I mostly hear from people around, asking me about some of the things happening. I believe the Assembly must do more to come closer to the traditional authorities because we are all servants clothed with the responsibility to work and bring the needed change,” he said.
He also touched on the reconstruction of the Sempe cluster of schools.
According to Nii Addotey Otintor construction works on the project is about 50% complete and sad to know that, the project has been abandoned for some period.
To him, education of the people is paramount and for that matter, all efforts must be taken to ensure that good, quality and conducive atmosphere is provided for children to learn.
The Sempe Mantse is demanding answers from the authorities and government as to the reasons why the Sempe Cluster of Schools project is put on hold.
“If the government cannot continue, it should hand it over to me to do,” he said.
He stressed collaboration between chieftaincy and government and warned government officials to be careful of how they illegally grab their lands.
