“We had no option than to report him to the Police”: Firm behind Black Sherif’s arrest

Must Read

Cruise People Limited, the firm responsible for the arrest of Ghanaian musician Black Sherif, has released an extensive statement shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the artist’s apprehension. The company had previously engaged Black Sherif to be a part of the highly anticipated second edition of their musical cruise event, Afro Cruise Jam, scheduled to take place on August 19, 2023, in Greece.

Drawing from the success of the first edition of the cruise held the previous year, which featured renowned artists like Grammy-award winner Gramps Morgan and the beloved Abrantie Amakye Dede, Cruise People Limited had high hopes for the upcoming event. In line with their commitment to delivering exceptional musical experiences, the firm entered into an agreement with Black Sherif to perform at the Afro Cruise Jam. According to the terms of the agreement, Black Sherif was set to be paid a sum of $40,000 for his performance.

In good faith, the organizers made an initial payment of $20,000 to the musician as part of the agreed-upon compensation. Additionally, the company required Black Sherif to record a video confirming his participation in the event, as a standard practice for promotional purposes and to assure fans of his involvement.

However, as the event date drew nearer, concerns arose when Black Sherif failed to fulfill his commitment of recording the aforementioned video. The company became increasingly troubled by the lack of communication from the musician’s management regarding his participation in the event. In an effort to resolve the matter amicably and gain clarity on the situation, Cruise People Limited’s legal team reached out to the management of Black Sherif in May, requesting a reason for the unexpected change in plans. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, no response was received.

With mounting pressure and the need for clarification growing urgent, Cruise People Limited found itself in a difficult position. Feeling left with no viable alternative, they made the difficult decision to report the matter to the police. This action was taken as a last resort to protect the interests of all parties involved and to ensure the successful execution of the Afro Cruise Jam, which had garnered considerable anticipation and support from music enthusiasts.
