We have difficulties getting witnesses – AG tells court

Must Read

The Attorney General’s office says it’s unable to get witnesses for its prosecution of COCOBOD Chief Executive Dr. Stephen Opuni, businessman Seidu Agongo and Agricult Ghana Limited for allegedly causing financial loss to the state and contravening the Public Procurement Act in the purchase of Lithovit liquid fertiliser between 2014 and 2016.

Chief State Attorney, Mrs. Evelyn Keelson, this week reiterated an earlier request by Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, for adjournment of the trial because the AG was having difficulties in getting witnesses to testify against the accused persons.

“My lord, unfortunately, we have still not been able to file our witness statements,” she told the court on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

The accused say they are innocent of the charges and are on a GH¢300,000 self-recognizance bail each.
