The Minister for Justice-designate, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has advocated for the establishment of whistle-blower agencies across the country to strengthen the fight against corruption.
Responding to a question from a member of the vetting committee about measures he plans to implement to tackle corruption, Dr. Ayine highlighted the effectiveness of the Whistle-Blower Act during his tenure as Deputy Attorney General in John Mahama’s first admadministration.
He revealed that the Act enabled him and his team to recover $30 million forthe country.
Dr. Ayine also noted that whistle-blowers are entitled to 10% of any funds recovered due to their contributions. He believes this serves as a strong incentive for individuals to come forward with information about corruption.
To enhance this initiative, he assured the committee that he would work towards operationalizing whistle-blower agencies nationwide to facilitate the reporting of corruption and improve transparency.
