Having successfully completed its inaugural edition in 2016, the Ghana Music Awards UK has now entered its seventh year, showcasing its growing significance and impact in the industry. While the ceremony itself takes place in the United Kingdom, it begins its journey in Ghana to offer a local flavor and engage with the homeland, simultaneously raising awareness among Ghanaians in the diaspora.
Submissions for the forthcoming seventh edition opened on April 12, 2023, and concluded on May 30, inviting artists, producers, and various music industry professionals to submit their works for consideration.
In the previous year’s ceremony, the talented hip-hop musician Black Sherif emerged as the night’s biggest winner, securing a total of five awards, including the coveted Musician of the Year title. Accomplished highlife singer and songwriter Akwaboah received three awards, while Eugy and Headie One each claimed two awards.
The event also presented an opportunity to honor legendary hip-hop icon Reggie Rockstone, who received the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the music industry. Additionally, TiC and Zoro King were recognized with special awards for their notable contributions.
